She always made sure we had what we needed and answered more questions than she probably expected. Training with Mimi was life changing for us. We can now take Jetty on long walks with no issue, have her settle down on place when needed, and she understands the meaning of "no". We had eagerly anticipated getting a dog for several years, envisioning the incredible bond and joy we would experience. The day we welcomed Machu Picchu into our lives was indeed a special one, but the day we began his training with Mimi was the best day ever. Our initial vision of a confident and well-behaved dog quickly faded as we discovered that Machu was incredibly insecure and fearful. Machu's behavior was far from what we had anticipated. His excessive barking became a constant presence, even just entering a room would trigger it. We found ourselves unable to invite people over, as his reactions to any movement would escalate into chaotic barking. The dream of a dog we could take anywhere quickly faded away, as Machu reacted intensely to every little thing during walks and car rides. Passing cars, bicycles, pedestrians, you name it—anything in motion would set him off. We resorted to walking him late in the evening, hoping to avoid encounters with people and other dogs, as these interactions triggered his uncontrollable behavior. Walking him on leash was a challenge in itself, as he would pull in every direction, mark territory excessively, even when there was nothing left to release. Compliance was partial at best, only when treats were presented as an incentive. Since starting our training sessions with Mimi, our dog's world has transformed in the most incredible way. We introduced structure into his life, expanding his horizons and offering him a sense of security. The progress has been remarkable. Machu now walks calmly on the leash, making pack walks an enjoyable experience. He can also relax when we have guests over, showing curiosity towards people and even making a few human friends. Taking him to new places has become less overwhelming, as his reactions have become more manageable. His confidence has grown significantly, although we acknowledge there is still a journey ahead. Witnessing him blossom and discovering his true personality has been an absolute delight. While Machu still possesses his unique quirks, don't we all? It's all part of what makes him the wonderful and individual dog he is becoming. Mimi has been an incredibly patient guide for us throughout this entire process. Whether in person or through text and email, she consistently addressed our questions with understanding and expertise. Her knowledge on dog training has been evident as she tailored each session to meet our specific needs. We greatly valued her reliability and promptness, appreciating that she always arrived on time for our sessions and maintained clear communication throughout the training journey. What truly stood out to us was Mimi's approach of involving us in the training. She actively encouraged our participation, equipping us with the necessary knowledge and tools to continue Machu's training even after the sessions concluded. This not only empowered us as dog owners but also ensured that the positive changes we witnessed would endure in the long run. We immediately booked a new addition consult once we adopted our puppy, Izzy— she really listened to our experiences at that time and provided great foundational advice as new dog owners. We also opted for the nutrition consult with Payton and it was so helpful! It was amazing we had that as an option to add. Once Izzy was old enough, we started private lessons since we wanted to be heavily involved in training so we could remain consistent with it. Mimi always came on time and ready to tackle the issues. We saw so much improvement even after one lesson. To this day we keep a consistent structured routine and Izzy thrives with it! Mimi’s weekly homework, training tips, and wrap up documents are so helpful to reference whenever we need to go back to the basics. "It’s been a few weeks since we picked Eden up from her Head Start Puppy Program with Hadley Training Co., and we still cannot believe the transformation! When we left Eden with Mimi, she was a confident but nervous 5 month old puppy with little understanding of commands or consequences. Mimi was able to teach Eden the structure that she needs to thrive, while holding her responsible for her negative behaviors and reinforcing positive choices. The “place” command is one of the most valuable commands Eden has learned. It allows me the time to complete my work and gives her a restful option where her mind is still at work! To our surprise, the “place” command, along with the balanced tools, has curbed her resource guarding by giving her a safe space to enjoy her chews! She has been nothing but calm, ready to work, and happy since returning home to us, and now looks to us for guidance before making decisions! Having Mimi there to build Eden’s foundation was, for us, the deciding factor in choosing Hadley Training Co. It has been clear since the beginning that Mimi has a strong understanding of a how a dog’s mind works. “I cannot believe the transformation of my little girl Keelin in the two short weeks she spent at Hadley Training Co. Previously, Keelin was leash reactive, she would dart away whenever given the opportunity, and was a frequent counter surfer; not to mention she would bark at me non-stop until I would give her whatever she wanted. In short, Keelin was a princess with a serious lack of rules and structure. Mimi was able to give her the structure she needed and then teach me how to enforce it. In the two weeks they worked with Keelin, she learned so much I couldn’t even believe it. I always thought I could train her myself and did not want to accept help, but Mimi’s help was the best decision I ever made; now I’m in control again! Keelin can walk by other dogs with no reactions. When I am hiking with Keelin, I now feel comfortable and confident letting her enjoy time off leash because of her reliable commands. Most importantly, when we are inside and Keelin is being bothersome I now tell her “place” and she lays down in her bed until I tell her otherwise.
